No fee to pre-register your interest

In March 2018, when the group have a clearer idea of the scale of potential participation, we will contact you either directly by email and/or by other sources, such as social media, with more details about the event and what you need to do to officially register. This will involve a fee but that fee will only reflect the direct costs associated with facilitating the walk.
ENABLERS: If you wish to be involved in educational provision – providing any kind of help or other resources at the Keeps - informational points along the route – please let us know when filling in the online form. We welcome all offers of help, especially from those who may wish to participate but might not be able to do the walk itself.
* The Durand Group will be abiding, in full, by the terms of the Data Protection Act and your details will not be used in any way other than to provide information for our own database of potential participants.
Have fun and raise money for charity
The Durand Group’s aspiration for Loos Big Walk 2018 is for everyone taking part to have an educational, enjoyable weekend experience whilst at the same time, raising money for a charity of your choice.
It is the Durand Group’s intention that any monies raised by members or those associated directly with us, should go to charities that directly support the armed forces. To this end we have chosen SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity to be our prime beneficiary. We will be administering this through the online fundraising site - JustGiving.com - and you might like to consider them too.
But as a group, we certainly don’t want to manage any donations ourselves or tell you where any money you raise should go. So any charity that you personally endorse and support, whether military or not, may be a beneficiary. The choice is yours.
All that we will ask is that you inform us of the final amount you raise and who the beneficiary will be, so that we may record it as part of any fundraising total.
The Durand Group is a fraternal association of individuals who have voluntarily undertaken to work together to further research and investigation into military related subterranean features. Founded in 1998, the central ethos is derived from that of the tunnellers of the First World War - mutual trust, personal compatibility and confidence in the competence, capability, resolution and support of all members. As part of its remit to explain to the general public the fundamental concepts of LIVING, MOVING and FIGHTING underground and its unique significance during the Great War of 1914-18 they have been investigating all aspects of the Loos Salient, from Grenay to Givenchy, since 2010.
The Durand Group will be the principal organisers of Loos BigWalk 2018, with support and guidance from other UK and French organisations and associations.
The activities of The Durand Charitable Trust have been principally (but not exclusively) to give financial assistance to the Durand Group, enabling dissemination of the results of that work to the general public.
